Service Profile

Traumatic Brain Injury devastates the lives of young people & their families.

Westmead Brain Injury Unit’s THiNK TWiCE community education team targets this issue from two perspectives.

1. By presenting to high school students at risk of sustaining TBI we hope to influence their attitudes & risk taking behaviour, and thus to avoid a brain injury in the future.

2. By involving young people who have already sustained TBI in our community education team we provide them with an opportunity to contribute to their community which leads to higher self esteem & life satisfaction.

The Think Twice community education team has been presenting to high school students and other community groups since 2000.

COMMENTS from Students:

"It helped me take into account the possibilities of my actions"

"I never want to put my life at risk just to have fun or think I'm cool"

"I realised it could be me!!"

"You've changed my views on people with disabilities forever - thank you!"
