Westmead Hospital is a teaching, referral and district hospital. It is located approximately 30 km west of the Sydney Central Business District and 3 km from Parramatta.

The hospital is adjacent to public transport, has on site parking and a child care facility plus has nearby staff accommodation.

Our services include:

Westmead Hospital offers the new graduated nurse the opportunity to care for patients across a wide range of clinical settings.  

The areas you can gain experience in are:

As the hospital is in close proximity to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, we do not have a paediatric service.

Start dates:

The proposed commencement dates/months are 28 January 2008, 28 May 2008 and 29 September, 2008.

Accommodation available/type:

At Westmead, limited accommodation is available in a large complex consisting of four, two and one bedroom units. The accommodation complex has tennis courts, a barbeque area, a small general store, a children’s' play area and a swimming pool.

Transport description:

The hospital is close to trains and buses.

Program structure:

Westmead offers a flexible new graduate transitional support program with up to three clinical placements that will be tailored to support career goals.

The program offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and development through the support of Nurse Educators, Clinical Nurse Educators, Nursing Unit Managers and other senior nursing and medical staff.
