Psychiatry Trainee
Sydney West Area Mental Health
Westmead Hospital is part of the Western FAB Training Zone of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. It provides a complete and fully accredited training programme leading to the Fellowship of the College (FRANZCP).
Trainees provide a clinical service under supervision in acute adult inpatient care, community and integrated settings, forensic, perinatal, rehabilitation, psychogeriatrics, consultation-liaison, child, adolescent and family settings. There are specific programmes that focus on early intervention for adolescents with psychosis, eating disorders, anxiety disorders and psychotherapy.
There is specialised training in psychotherapy at Westmead offered with the option of completing a Masters degree in this discipline.
There is a comprehensive teaching programme offered to all trainees with specific training programmes to prepare trainees for all college examinations. It is a training zone in which positions have been sought after and there is a long and successful track record with respect to College examinations.
First year applicants need to apply through the NSW Branch of Psychiatry.
Trainees for 2nd and subsequent years should apply directly to Sydney West Area Mental Health.
Essential Criteria:
- Eligible for Registration with NSW Medical Board
- Minimum of one (1) year postgraduate experience
