Medical Psychology
Cumberland and Community Adult Mental Health Services
Clinical Psychology services are provided across Cumberland and Community Adult Mental Health units of Western Sydney Mental Health Service in line with the Services commitment to providing an integrated and multidisciplinary approach to client care. Continuity of care in the delivery of psychology services for clients of the Adult Mental Health Services is facilitated by the allocation of Clinical Psychologists between various related units within Rehabilitation services at Cumberland Hospital, and between hospital-based Acute Care units and the associated Community Mental Health Teams.
Clinical Psychologists are allocated on the various Cumberland and Community Adult Mental Health units as follows:

2 fulltime Clinical Psychologists on 6 inpatient Rehabilitation Cottages and the Day Services Complex a rehabilitation day program area

1 fulltime Clinical Psychologist on the Prevention, Early Intervention and Recovery Service (P.E.I.R.S) a rehabilitation day program area for clients aged between 18-26 years old

A part-time Clinical Psychologist on Bunya a secure forensic rehabilitation unit

1 fulltime Clinical Psychologist on Paringa admission unit and the Community Adult Mental Health Teams from Merrylands and Auburn.

1 fulltime Clinical Psychologist on Hainsworth admission unit and the Community Adult Mental Health Teams from Baulkham Hills and Dundas

A part-time Clinical Psychologist on Parramatta Community Adult Mental Health Team
In addition to the professional services that the Clinical Psychologists provide as members of multidisciplinary teams on the above in-patient and out-patient units, specialised therapy services are also provided by the above staff through the Psychology Out-Patient Clinic, located at the Mental Health Sciences Centre.
The range of psychology services available through Cumberland and Community Adult Mental Health Services include:
- Cognitive and Neuropsychological assessments
- Personality assessments
- Individual therapy for Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, and Psychotic Disorders
- Psychotherapy for other issues that affect mental health, e.g. stress, grief and loss, abuse and trauma
- Group therapy for treatment, rehabilitation or support for clients and their family members
- Consultation to other mental health professionals within the service regarding psychological interventions
