Population Health and Strategic Direction
Strategy and Planning
The Health Service Development Unit is accountable to the Manager, Strategy and Planning with responsibility for providing and supporting service planning and the development of strategic direction for the Area Health Service. It contributes to the identification of Area service priorities and supports their development. Its activities include co-ordination of statewide planning initiatives.
The Department of Health requires that all Areas produce service and asset plans to effectively link the requirements for delivery of services with the planning of appropriate facilities. A current priority is the development of the Area Healthcare Services Plan. All Clinical Networks are involved in planning services across the Health Service Area at this time.
Co-ordination of service planning for the development of Auburn health services is another significant priority. Service planning to support capital works in Nepean and Westmead hospitals are other current projects.
The Health Service Development Unit conducts processes and prepares documents
to assist clinical networks, cluster sponsors and clinical services in
their service planning.
