Performance Monitoring And Reporting Unit
The Performance Monitoring and Reporting Unit is a new unit developed to incorporate the functions of performance monitoring and analysis, performance reporting, HIE and Business Objects development, data standardisation and data quality within those areas. Specific areas include the production and analysis of activity, costing and financial reporting and episode funding. This will result in better utilisation of data for strategic and operational management, improved consistency and minimal duplication of reporting efforts though a co-coordinated approach by the units within Performance Monitoring and Reporting. This will provide cohesive management of this valuable asset for SWAHS. The unit is comprised of a Data Management and Reporting Unit, a Performance Analysis Unit and a Budget and Financial Analysis Unit. A major function is the development and ongoing production and analysis of the Chief Executive Dashboard.
The main function of the Data Management and Reporting Unit is the system administration of the Health Information Exchange (HIE) data warehouse and Business Objects reporting systems, and the development of standard activity and finance reports. The unit also produces small finance orientated business systems and develops 'ad hoc' reports in line with Area Health Service reporting needs. Since combining HIE and Finance data from the former WSAHS and WAHS, we are now able to deliver reports and information with an improved technical architecture across the new Sydney West Area Health Service.
The Performance Analysis Unit is in a transitional phrase continuing to provide a translation service resulting in ad hoc reports and are moving towards a Clinical Service Review orientation. This unit will also increase its performance monitoring role, with a focus on KPIs, Casemix analysis and costing, which will allow global utilisation review.
The Business, Performance and Strategy Unit is in development and will
manage major projects and financially oriented projects for area wide
application. It is charged with creating an episode funded budget within
a network structure. A major role will be the ongoing analysis and monitoring
of the process to verify the effectiveness of the model. Major projects
undertaken by Performance Monitoring And Reporting Unit are expected to
be co-coordinated by this unit.
