Information Pack

This package was designed by the BIRS family education working party from late 1995 - 1997. Over this time many staff have been involved in the process and we appreciate their input.

The BIRS Info package concept is to tailor make info packages for individual clients depending on their needs as they progress through their rehabilitation. The goal is to provide the right information at the right time. Neither too much nor too little.

Written information has proven to be important for clients with TBI & their families as verbal messages are often forgotten or confused. Available written material is often too complex or includes aspects which are irrelevant and may be distressing for clients.

On admission or referral to the service (Inpatient, TLU or Outreach) the client &/or family member is given a BIRS folder, a general information brochure and a specific brochure for the relevant part of the service (Inpatient, TLU or Outreach).

The current family education working party meets regularly to discuss management & development of the Information package for our clients.
