History:

Lithgow Integrated Health Service operates out of new facilities that were opened in February 1999. Three organisations operate from the campus providing a comprehensive range of health services to the community.

Overview

Lithgow Integrated Health Service consists of a 46 bed public hospital, 14 bed private hospital, 13 bed nursing home, 31 hostel type units and a comprehensive community health centre all located on the one campus.

The towns population is 12,000 with an additional 8,000 people living in the surrounding area. Lithgow is a historical town with strong links to Australia's industrial development. Coalmining remains the major activity with power generation. Major attractions include the Zig Zag Railway and museum of mining.

The Hospital provides 24 hour emergency care with on call medical services. The area is serviced by a number of General Practitioners and health service staff numbers

Nepean Hospital at Penrith is the referral centre and is 60 minutes by road.

Services Available for Patients and Visitors

There is a café on site that is operated by the local branch of the united hospital auxiliary. The café offers a wide range of products for patients and visitors.

Accommodation

Patient accommodation within the hospital is within four bed, two bed and single room. There is no accommodation on the campus for visitors, however, there are motel facilities situated within a short walking distance from the hospital.

Parents of sick children receiving inpatient treatment are accommodated within the ward.

Transport, Parking, Access

The local bus company provides a timetable passenger service to Lithgow and District. There is taxi a service available.

There is ample off street, parking is free.

All services on campus are wheelchair accessible.
