History of Blacktown Hospital
Blacktown Hospital was opened in April 1965 with a total of 160 beds. Its bed capacity increased over the years with the Maternity Unit being commissioned in 1976. By 1987, its bed capacity had reached 365. The hospital was the subject of a $90million capital redevelopment with the new hospital being commissioned in 2000.

Accommodation:
Single rooms are allocated on the basis of medical priority. If you are choosing your own doctor and request a single room there will be no extra charge providing you have taken out private health insurance to cover the cost of a single room. However, if you are insured for shared accommodation only and ask for a single room, you will have to pay the difference between the cost of shared and single accommodation. Should the need arise for a medical emergency you may be asked to relocate to alternative accommodation.

Public bus service provided by Busways are accessible to patients, visitors, friends right at the doorstep of the hospital. Ample parking is provided as well as disabled parking.
