Welcome, Kylie Ward

Kylie WardKylie joins Sydney West Area Health Service as the new Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services on the 9th of October, 2006.

Kylie has an impressive record of achievement with previous roles as Director of Nursing and Clinical Services and Site Manager of Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service, Co-Director of the Division of Medicine for Liverpool Health Service and prior to that, at Blacktown Mt Druitt Health as the Associate Director, Women’s and Children’s Health. For the past 12 months Kylie has been acting Area Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services for Northern Sydney Central Coast Area Health Service.

Kylie has significant experience in after-hours and campus management in acute and sub-acute facilities and has a clinical background in intensive care and aged care nursing.

Kylie’s love and passion includes working with nurses and midwives to develop and enhance their skills, proficiency and professionalism in management and clinical leadership to ensure a collaborative working relationship is achieved with all members of the health service for the benefit of improved patient outcomes and the delivery of quality standards of care.

Her career highlights have been significant improvements in models of care and service delivery, the development of advanced roles for all levels of nurses and midwives as well as improved patient outcomes in many varied areas. This has been achieved through strong strategic leadership whilst not losing sight of key operational challenges and the importance of valuing and investing in all staff.

Kylie prides herself in promoting and recognising nursing and midwifery achievements.

Kylie sees her role in senior management and executive as an opportunity not only to advocate for staff and patients as members of a broader community but also to facilitate education, professional development and research as key to high standards of clinical practice.
