Transition to Local Health Districts (LHDs)
On 1 January 2011 two new the former Sydney West Area Health Service was replaced with Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District and Western Sydney Local Health District.
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District encompasses the local government areas of Blue Mountains, Lithgow, Hawkesbury and Penrith.
Western Sydney Local Health District encompasses the local government areas of Auburn, Baulkham Hills, Blacktown, Holroyd and Parramatta.
